Years Helping Children
With All Abilities

Hi, I’m Chadney Spencer.

I've been teaching art for over 25 years.

For the last 8 years, I’ve worked with children of all abilities, including those with autism and special needs, in my private New York studio.

I’ve seen how structured drawing builds focus, confidence, and independence — especially for kids who struggle in traditional settings.

My studio is now full, so I created FocusArt Kids to bring this structured approach into your home.

I Started Drawing At 4 And Never Stopped

Over the years, I studied classical fine art, art history, animation, and philosophy.

But nothing compares to teaching. I’ve seen kids who couldn’t focus light up with calm and confidence when given a pencil and space to create.

I’ve seen nonverbal children smile with pride at their artwork. That’s why I do this.

Art changed my life. Now I use it to help others change theirs.

Why Parents Love My Lessons

  • Structured, step-by-step that create calm

  • Progressive so skills improve

  • Increases focus, confidence, dexterity, and independence

  • Flexible learning on your schedule

  • No driving, classrooms, or pressure to keep up

Each 1 Hour Lesson Is Calm & Structured

Each 1 hour journey is broken into 3 parts - warm up, small drawings, and big drawing. Do it all at once, or take it 10 minutes at a time.

There is no 'behind'.

Children have enjoyed my lessons whether they are high or low support, verbal or non-verbal. Inclusive for all abilities and ages over 5.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this suitable for my child’s age and skill level?

Yes. The lessons are designed for children over 5 years old and adults inclusive of all abilities, including those with autism and special needs.  Some students are complete beginners, while others are more advanced. The structured, step-by-step format allows each student to learn at their own pace.

Does this qualify for self-direction funds?

It should. FocusArt Kids offers an inclusive learning experience with “pre-recorded art classes” that may qualify for self-direction funds depending on your state’s guidelines. Check with your self-direction coordinator to confirm.

What if my child has trouble focusing for the full lesson?

That’s completely okay. Many parents help guide their child back to the lesson when needed, especially in the beginning. Over time, many students become more comfortable, engaged, and independent with the structure and rhythm of the lessons.

Is this live?

No. Lessons are pre-recorded and flexible so students can learn anytime.

Can lessons be paused and replayed?

Absolutely. Students can learn fully at their own pace.

If my child falls behind, are the videos still available?

Yes. You retain access to all lessons in your account.

If we go away, can we get the lessons in advance?

Yes. Just let us know via support [at] focusartkids.com and we can release them early.
